Sexual Intimacy

Another bank holiday awaits us and hoping the spring season is treating you well. Part of my training is in psychosexual therapy. Many individuals and couples book appointments in clinic to explore sexual wellbeing and intimacy. When it comes to sexual pleasure, understanding the basics of anatomy is key. Erogenous zones are like hidden gems waiting to be discovered. The mind is a powerful tool in enhancing pleasure and my view sexual pleasure not only is from another but from our connection with our mind. Fantasies can be brought to life through visualisation techniques and this can be supported for sensate focus and relaxation. Fantasises doesn’t actually mean you want to try them, they are what I refer to as daydreaming. Our mind is a powerful tool as it can impact sexual wellbeing more than we realise as well as enhance.

Emotional intimacy forms the foundation for all enhanced pleasure. Safety is crucial for all dynamics especially sexual. Feeling safe supports open communication is that can help you and your partner navigate desires, preferences, and boundaries. This changes over time when you are with a partner and its important to have regular check ins of what’s going well and what you’d like to do more of. Its rather natural to have differences of wants and desires or thoughts on frequency. The key isn’t about having more sex but negotiating and compromising together ways of connection and having pleasure together. This doesn’t always mean sexual intercourse and is dependent on the couple. For many individuals and couples I promote mindfulness and relaxation together as as a way to relax and connect with self and other. By being present in the moment and attuned to your body’s needs, you can cultivate a deeper connection with yourself and your partner. Whether it’s through meditation, yoga, or simply taking time to unwind, prioritising self-care prior and after sexual experience and encourage intimacy.

Wellness practices are not just about achieving temporary pleasure; they are about cultivating overall wellbeing. When you take care of your physical, emotional, and mental health, you set the stage for a more fulfilling life. By integrating wellness practices into your daily routine, you not only enhance your orgasmic pleasure but also enhance your overall quality of life. Enhancing your sexual pleasure is not just about what happens in the bedroom; it’s about how you nurture your mind, body, and soul every day. Embracing wellness practices, prioritise self-care, can support relational wellbeing. Embracing  techniques with an open mind may they lead to heightened pleasure and connection that brings joy and fulfilment to your relationship.
